Teaching & Learning Sessions
This "teaching & Learning" instructor-led training series has eight sessions. Each session covers one or two specific teaching-related topics.
Several compelling teaching topics are presented, such as Top 10 Things Students like the most in Their Classes, Planning Your Flipped Class, Effective Teaching Strategies for Scaffolding students learning, Prompting Transfer of Learning by Providing Authentic Activities,.etc.
Adjunct Faculty eLearning
Based on the faculty survey and Adjunct Advisory Council's input, this eLearning course has 11 modules.
Each module consists of two to five 15-30 minute training sections. Several practical teaching topics are presented: knowing your students, the first day of the class, active learning strategies, assessment, rubrics, classroom management, time management, etc.
Learning goals:
-
Help achieve the OCCC's mission by increasing students' graduation rate
-
Increase adjunct faculty members’ awareness of effective teaching techniques and strategies
-
Increase adjunct faculty members’ awareness of classroom management strategies
-
Increase adjunct faculty members’ awareness of the CLT
Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS)
This prototype is used to assist Type II diabetes patients in learning the necessary problem-solving skills required for self-managing diabetes. This project aims to explain the self-monitored blood glucose records (SMR) and the (Diabetes problem solving) DPS process.

The first section is a general tutorial covering basic propositional knowledge about Type II diabetes; an animated visual representation-Microworld is also embedded. The second section is a procedural simulation that guides the learner through five problem-based scenarios. Several problem-solving skills are indicated, such as recognizing the patterns, identifying causes, generating solutions, and transferring learned skills to a new environment.
Over-the-Counter Pharmacist Communication
This project is a multimedia training program that aims to model an effective over-the-counter (OTC) consultation process for novice community pharmacists. It primarily focuses on preventing acetaminophen duplication in both prescribed and OTC medications. By taking on the role of intern pharmacists, learners will experience and demonstrate various communication strategies via interacting with their virtual patients in a situated learning environment.
Mayer's Design Principles for Multimedia Learning
The target audience for this rapid prototype is novice instructional designers or multimedia developers, who may not be aware of the application perspective of Mayer's design principles.
There are a variety of reasons to explain this performance gap. One is that novice designers don’t have fully developed mental models to guide them in applying practical design principles.

In this prototype, by interacting with a series of best practices of the design principles, the audiences will be able to understand the importance of using these principles during their daily work.
Instructional Technology
Mini-Projects
With more educators exploring and adopting instructional technologies, they would like to integrate them into their teaching, learning, and research.
I select 15 cutting-edge instructional technologies and create a mini-project for each tool to demonstrate their future teaching and training applicability.
Best Practice of Online Teaching
Preparing Online Instructors (POI) certificate program is a six-week online training course offered by the Faculty Development in the Institute for Teaching & Learning Excellence at Oklahoma State University (OSU) for all the OSU faculties.
This training program includes online course exploration and summaries of best practices of online teaching. Meanwhile, the online course improves and enhances the faculty's pedagogical and technological techniques. It enables them to teach more effectively in a virtual environment by offering an opportunity for faculty to facilitate the discussion board as an instructor and enroll as online students.
